When Faith and AIDS Collide

28 Jun

I think this an incredibly sad example of how faith divides familes, friends, and even whole communities.  I won’t offer much commentary, but I wonder what your thoughts are when your read a story like this…

My first thought? ‘Yes Dr Steelman. That’s EXACTLY what Jesus would have done’.
    Or not.

I’m always surprised by people who hang on to their faith under these circumstances. I guess they’ve held it even longer than I had. When I started to question things like this, I thought, OK, maybe God doesn’t hate gays. But if that’s true, he obviously sucks at communication. If you believe that God loves gays, you also have to believe that an all powerful God has essentially never communicated clearly with humans.

I agree…the fact of unclear commands in the scriptures (Gays, should we beat children with a rod, women silent and submit, etc…) is one of the clinchers for me.
